Nineteen students from Instituto Carlos BousoƱo, Majadahonda (Madrid), Spain recently visited Harwinton and Burlington for three weeks as part of an exchange program with Lewis Mills High School and Har-Bur Middle School. In February, a group of Lewis Mills students will go to Spain for two weeks and accompany their Spanish siblings to Instituto Carlos Bousono.
Spanish students arrived on Sept. 3 and departed on Sept. 23. In addition to shadowing their Lewis Mills and Har-Bur host siblings, Bousono students partook in several day trips in the area.

They visited New York on two occasions: one day to Manhattan to visit main points of interest and a second day to see Tarzan on Broadway; a full-day trip to Boston which included a visit to the Old Ironsides, Harvard Square, and Faneuil Hall; a half-day trip to Yale with a tour of the campus and then the remainder of the day was spent at Mystic Seaport. Spanish students were also warmly received by both Burlington and Harwinton municipalities and their respective leaders.
In addition to attending school daily, LSM students will also take excursions during their stay in Madrid to the historic cities of Toledo, Salamanca, and Avila along with the capital, Madrid.
